- Residents can place grass and grass clippings, leaves, flowers, small pruning, limbs and twigs in paper bags. Yard waste does not include dirt, mulch, and rocks. Visit the Curbit website for details on yard waste preparation requirements.
- Yard waste is collected weekly on your normal collection day.
Bulky Waste
Items such as household furnishings, appliances, mattresses, box springs, lawn equipment and similar items too large to be placed in the garbage rollout cart and not eligible for recycling or yard waste collection are considered bulky waste and must be scheduled for collection.
Visit curbit.charlottenc.gov or use the CLT+ App to schedule a pickup.
*Moving Boxes - You cannot schedule bulky waste pickup for a large amount of cardboard boxes under normal circumstances, they must be broken down and cut up to fit in Recycling cart for collection. HOWEVER, there is a one-time exception for new residents moving into a home, with large amounts of moving boxes. They must still be broken down, but you can call CharMeck 311 to scheule a bulky pickup. We would also recommend posting on the Nextdoor App or Neighborhood Facebook page, as other neighbors might be in need for moving, recycling the boxes this way.
